Safe Maintenance of Double Skin Facades

Safe Maintenance of Double Skin Facades

Double skin facades are becoming a popular trend, therefore their maintenance. Many of these facades feature fixed or electrically movable sunshades on each floor, which require regular cleaning and upkeep, just like the windows of the building. To ensure the safety of workers walking on walkways between the two facades, where collective protection is absent, Fallprotec S.A recommends two types of fall arrest systems: a rigid SecuRailPro or a cable SecuRope, both overhead lifelines. In combination with a fall arrest block (SRL), they effectively reduce the fall distance. Their gliders/trolleys slide smoothly thanks to the high-quality bearings.

However, the rigid rail system offers an additional advantage by further reducing the fall distance. This feature is critical, particularly in areas with low fall clearance, such as the first floor of these buildings. Moreover, compared to the cable system, the rigid rail overhead lifeline transmits less force to the host structure in the event of a fall. Additionally, it usually harmonizes with the aesthetic of the building, ensuring seamless integration.

Thanks to ALTIUS SUD-OUEST for their support and help in photographing their cable lifeline installation.
